In a strong condemnation of the Congress government, Opposition Leader R Ashok declared that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise protests across Karnataka, demanding a thorough investigation into the gruesome case of cow udder cutting that took place in Chamarajpet.

He announced on Tuesday (14 January) that BJP would take up a "Dharma Yuddha" for this cause.

The Bengaluru police have arrested 30-year-old Shaikh Nasru in connection with the incident.

BJP state president BY Vijayendra also criticised the Congress government, claiming its “appeasement politics” had fostered an environment conducive to heinous crimes, such as the recent attack on cows in Chamarajpet, Bengaluru.

Vijayendra, accompanied by Leader of Opposition R Ashoka, Bangalore Central MP P C Mohan, and other BJP leaders, visited the residence of Karna, the owner of the cows whose udders were slashed, and demanded strict action against the perpetrator.

“This incident has shocked not just the people of Karnataka, but also the entire country. Such crimes have never happened in the state. We worship the cow as a god; this incident is unfortunate,” Vijayendra said.

He reiterated the BJP’s support for Karna’s family, stating, “The appeasement politics of the Congress government is encouraging people to indulge in such crimes. The BJP is demanding justice for the poor family. The people involved in the crime have to be punished.”

R Ashoka said, " Such tactics wont work since both the BJP and Hindus are brave enough to tackle such challenges. The BJP extends its support to all Hindu organisations in the state to launch a Dharma Yuddha condemning such incidents."

MP P C Mohan gifted two cows and a calf to the affected family along with a compensation of Rs 1 lakh while the leaders performed a ‘Gau Pooja’ at Karna’s residence to show solidarity.
