Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal kicked off the party's election campaign for Delhi assembly polls due in early next year with 'Revdi par charcha' (discussion on freebies).
Revdi is a term coined by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to criticise election freebies. AAP retorted by saying, "Public's money, public's Revdi... so the public has the right over it."
Launching the 'Revdi par Charcha' campaign today (22 November), Kejriwal said that 65,000 meetings will be held across Delhi where AAP workers will go among the public to tell them about six freebies.
The six promised freebies are 24 hours free electricity, free water, good and quality free education, mohalla clinics and government hospitals, free bus travel for women and free pilgrimage to elderly people.
Kejriwal alleged that if BJP comes to power in Delhi in the upcoming election, it will stop these six freebies being given to the public and Delhi will again go back to the old times.
He added that even if the BJP promises the same freebies, they should not elect a 'duplicate' and questioned why these freebies are not given in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh if the BJP really wants to offer them.
Apart from the six ongoing freebies, Kejriwal promised that soon Rs 1,000 will be given to every woman. Recently, many parties have wooed female voters through such cash handouts including the BJP.
