Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voting Begins In Third Phase For 93 Seats In 12 States, UTs - All About It

The polling for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 has commenced on Tuesday (7 May).

As many as 93 Parliamentary Constituencies in 12 States and Union Territories (UTs) are going for polls in the third phase of the voting, according to the Election Commission.

The polling for Betul parliamentary constituency (PC) in Madhya Pradesh was rescheduled in third phase due to death of a candidate from Bahujan Samaj Party.

Further, the voting in Anantnag-Rajouri PC in Jammu and Kashmir has been rescheduled to the sixth phase.

Also, there will be no polling in Surat PC, as the candidate has been elected unopposed.

The states and UTs where polling is being held are Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Assam, West Bengal, Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra, and the UTs of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), over 1,300 candidates from are in the fray in this phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

Over 17.24 crore voters, including 8.85 crore males and 8.39 crore females, will be eligible to vote across 1.85 lakh polling stations in the third phase of the elections.

In view of the heatwave in several parts of the country, the EC has made arrangements for convenience of the voters at all polling stations including facilities like water, shamiyana, fans to deal with hot weather conditions.
