Madhya Pradesh (MP) is set to establish an 800 MW solar park that will cater to the energy needs of both MP and Uttar Pradesh (UP) by alternating supply between the two states every six months, reported Times of India (TOI)
The solar park will consist of four units of 200 MW each, with power procurement jointly managed by the MP Power Management Company and the UP Power Corporation Limited.
The project is designed to address the complementary power demand patterns in both states.
In the first two quarters of a financial year, MP’s energy demand is lower, while UP experiences higher electricity consumption. In contrast, during the last two quarters, UP’s demand declines while MP’s energy requirements surge.
This alternating model allows efficient utilisation of renewable energy resources while ensuring a balanced power supply for both states.
"This will be a pure solar project but will be supplying energy to two states each for six months," said Manu Shrivastav, Additional Chief Secretary for New and Renewable Energy in MP, during a pre-bid meeting held at the Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Bhopal on Tuesday (25 February), and quoted as saying by TOI.
Investors were provided with a detailed roadmap for the implementation of the project. Key milestones in the procurement and execution process include: 9 May: Release of the final bid documents, 23 June: Reverse auction process to finalise the selection of developers, 14 July: Signing of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
