MEA Issues Travel Advisory For Nepal, Asks Indians To Exercise Caution

The Indian government has urged its citizens to defer travel to Nepal due to ongoing unrest and to exercise caution if already in the country.

Indian citizens in Nepal are advised to stay indoors, avoid crowded streets, and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.

The unrest in Nepal intensified following the government’s decision to ban several social media platforms, triggering violent protests primarily led by Gen-Z demonstrators.

At least 19 people have died during clashes with security forces, and property damage has been reported across major cities.

Amid growing turmoil, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday (9 September), after only two days of protests that quickly expanded to demand systemic change over alleged corruption.

Authorities in Nepal continue to monitor the situation, and Indian citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant, keep communication lines open with the Embassy, and comply with local advisories until conditions normalise.
