A six-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat was saved reportedly by monkeys when an unidentified man tried to rape the UKG student on Saturday (21 September).

As per the complaint filed by the girl's parents, the accused lured the child into an abandoned house, where he undressed the girl and attempted to abuse her sexually.

At that time, a troop of monkeys aggressively rushed towards him and compelled him to flee leaving the minor. After returning to her home, the girl narrated how monkeys saved her.

The UP Police has booked the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and is searching for him, while he is on the run, Times of India reported.

A CCTV footage has been found where the man is seen walking with the girl. However, the accused is yet to be identified. Baghpat circle officer Harish Bhadoria said efforts are underway to find the accused.

The girl's father said that the accused would have killed their child if the monkeys had not intervened. Meanwhile, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed.
