The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is making significant progress in Ahmedabad, with major structural work on the Ahmedabad station nearing completion, while construction at the Sabarmati station is steadily progressing, according to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).
NHSRCL is the implementing agency for the 508 Km high-speed rail corridor.
The project is also expected to boost economic growth and regional connectivity.
Ahmedabad is the only city along the corridor to host two bullet train stations—Ahmedabad and Sabarmati—both designed for seamless integration with Indian Railways, metro networks, and bus services.
The Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub, located on the east side of the Sabarmati Bullet Train station, will further enhance connectivity and commercial activities.
The Ahmedabad Bullet Train station is being constructed above Western Railway’s platforms 10, 11, and 12, with a direct link to the Kalupur Metro Station via lifts, stairs, and escalators.
"The station’s major structural works, including concourse, rail, and platform slabs, are nearing completion, with finishing work in progress," NHSRCL said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Sabarmati terminal station, located in the existing Sabarmati railway yard, will be fully integrated with Indian Railways, the multimodal transport hub, metro stations, and bus stops.
"Structural work on the station is advancing steadily, with platform-level construction in progress," the NHSRCL said.
The 26-km bullet train alignment in Ahmedabad passes through key commercial corridors and includes 31 crossings, six of which will be steel bridges.
Advanced engineering techniques such as the Full Span Launching Method (FSLM) and Span-by-Span Method (SBS) are being employed for viaduct construction, ensuring efficient progress.
Alignment Details in Ahmedabad District:
Total Alignment: 26 km
Number of Bullet Train Stations: 2 (Ahmedabad and Sabarmati)
Viaduct Construction Methods:
Full Span Launching Method (FSLM): 3.5 km
Span-by-Span Method (SBS): 19 km
Number of Crossings: 31, including 6 steel bridges
