Mumbai–Dighi And Mumbai–Kashid Ro-Ro Services Likely To Be Launched By End Of March Next Year

Maharashtra’s Fisheries and Ports Minister, Nitesh Rane, has directed that the long-awaited Mumbai–Dighi and Mumbai–Kashid Ro-Ro ferry services should be operational by the end of March 2026, according to an official press statement.

The directive was issued during a review meeting held at the Maharashtra Secretariat.

The meeting was attended by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, Maharashtra Maritime Board CEO P Pradeep, and senior officials involved in the project.

Emphasising the importance of expediting work, Rane stated that the Ro-Ro service would provide a great option to go from Mumbai to Konkan and cut down travel time considerably.

He instructed officials to accelerate jetty construction at both Dighi and Kashid, while simultaneously advancing paperwork for necessary permits.

The minister also addressed the issue of diesel refunds for fishing boats in a separate meeting attended by MLA Mahesh Baldi.

Rane assured that no eligible fishing boat will be deprived of the diesel refund and urged fishing cooperatives to ensure their vessels are made available for inspection by Fisheries Department officials.

He directed that a satisfactory decision be taken in consultation with fishermen to resolve the matter effectively.

Officials believe the new Ro-Ro services will not only enhance passenger convenience but also boost tourism and economic activity in the Konkan region by providing a faster, more efficient transport option.
