The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has announced the signing of 18 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 52,599 crore with major industry players.

The agreements, finalised during the ongoing India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, involve key companies such as MRPL, Aegis Vopak, Reliance, HPCL, GMPL, and IPRCL, highlighting the growing investor confidence in India’s western coast.

At the Karnataka Session on “Exploring PPP Synergies for a Sustainable Blue Economy,” NMPA Chairman A V Ramana underlined how evolving public-private partnership (PPP) models have reshaped port management by fostering innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.

He also outlined NMPA’s successful PPP-driven ventures, which include mechanised terminals and a multi-specialty hospital, the first of its kind among Indian ports to be developed through this model.

Ramana later chaired a session on “Passenger Experience, Sustainability & Policy Framework” in the Cruise Tourism segment, where discussions centred on India’s expanding cruise industry.

The focus was on enhancing passenger convenience, adopting green technologies such as shore power, advancing digital solutions, and building sustainable tourism infrastructure to support future growth.

Karnataka Port Minister Mankal Vaidya, during his visit to the NMPA Pavilion, commended Ramana’s leadership, noting that NMPA’s profitability has quadrupled between 2019 and 2025.

The minister described NMPA as one of the country’s most efficient and sustainable ports, reflecting the effectiveness of its strategic vision and operational reforms.
