The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday (5 June) conducted simultaneous searches at multiple locations across the Kashmir Valley in connection with a terror conspiracy case, Times of India reported.
The searches were conducted in multiple districts, Shopian, Kulgam, and Pulwama in south Kashmir, and Sopore and Kupwara in the north.
NIA teams were accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Police and paramilitary personnel during the operations.
Raids took place in Reban Nildoora and Check-e-Choland villages in Shopian.
In Kulgam, the agency searched locations in Devsar, Bugam, Sonigam, and Manzgam. Several sites in Pulwama were also targeted, though specific details were not disclosed.
In north Kashmir, officials confirmed that raids were carried out at “multiple locations” in Sopore and Kupwara.
According to an ANI report, NIA is carrying out searches at 32 locations across Jammu and Kashmir as part of an ongoing terror conspiracy investigation.
An official cite in the report said the action is linked to a case registered by the NIA in Jammu in 2022, involving multiple “terrorist organisations and over ground workers for terror conspiracy.”
India has heightened security in the bordering areas along Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack and the following anti-terror attack Operation Sindoor in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Recently, similar search operations were conducted to take on the spy network of Pakistan in India, where Indian security forces and police have arrested several spies in and around bordering states.
With arrests spanning from a Punjab-based informant linked to Khalistani operatives to a Jaisalmer man connected with the Pakistan embassy, and the dismissal of government staff in J&K for terror ties.
