In a significant infrastructure boost to urban mobility, Noida Authority is set to deploy 500 electric buses across Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway region within the next 250 days, Indian Express reported.

The Rs 675 crore project aims to enhance public transport frequency and reduce vehicular emissions, especially on routes linking major urban and transit hubs, including the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar.

Officials cited in the IE report confirmed that the tender process is complete and two private operators have been selected to run 250 buses each.

“While Travel Time Mobility India Private Limited will operate 9-metre buses at a cost of Rs 55 per km, Delbus Mobility Private Limited will operate 12-metre buses at Rs 68 per km. Each electric bus is expected to run up to 300 km daily,” an official was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

The rollout will take place in phases, with buses set to operate across 25 designated routes. An official said the plan is to ensure that buses are available at 10-minute intervals. Each vehicle will take a break of around 20 minutes after completing a trip.

The number of buses deployed per route will range between 10 and 20, the official added.

Planned corridors include Shashi Chowk to Ace City, Kasna to Sharda University, Tigri Gol Chakkar to Rajnigandha Chowk, Ek Murti Chowk to G B University, Botanical Garden to Sampoornam, and Dadri to GB University via Kasna.

An annual operational cost of Rs 370 crore has been set for the project, with expected revenue of Rs 145 crore from ticket fares and advertising.
