Over 78 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with states and union territories (UTs) to be administered and more than 15 lakh jabs will be provided to them within the next three days, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday (29 June).
In a statement, the ministry said that the Centre has so far provided, both through the free of cost channel and through direct state procurement category, more than 31.83 crore (31,83,36,450) COVID-19 vaccine doses to states and UTs.
"Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 31,04,91,565 doses (as per data available at 8 AM today)," the Health Ministry said.
More than 78 lakh (78,44,885) balance and unutilised COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered, it said.
Furthermore, more than 15,18,560 vaccine doses are in the pipeline and will be received by the states and UTs within the next three days, the ministry added.
According to the ministry, under the 'Liberalised and Accelerated Phase-3 Strategy of Covid-19 Vaccination', implementation of which started from 1 May, every month 50 per cent of the total Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL) cleared vaccine doses of any manufacturer would be procured by the Centre and will be supplied free of cost to states and UTs.
