The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) has completed 7,83,620 km of all-weather rural roads since its launch in 2000, according to government data presented in the Rajya Sabha on Friday (8 August).

The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) promotes inclusive growth by ensuring that remote and underserved areas have all-weather road connectivity and are integrated into the development process. This helps reduce regional disparities and ensures the benefits of development reach all sections of rural society.

Since inception, 8,38,611 km of roads have been sanctioned under the programme.

The pace of construction has remained high post-2020, with 1,57,666 km completed between April 2020 and August 2025. This period also saw Rs. 74,324.36 crore released and 1,23,595 km sanctioned.
