In a stark reminder of Pakistan’s long-standing ties with globally sanctioned terror groups, Hafiz Abdul Rauf—a US-designated global terrorist and senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander—was seen leading funeral prayers for terrorists killed in India’s precision strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor.’

Videos circulating online show Rauf, who is a top commander of commander of the banned Pakistani terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), conducting the prayers in the presence of uniformed Pakistan Army personnel.

This gathering was held for individuals reportedly linked to banned terror outfits, who died in Indian strikes targeting terror infrastructure in Punjab's Muridke.

Rauf was designated a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) by the United Staes in 2010.

Despite international sanctions, he continues to operate openly in Pakistan, routinely attending public events and representing LeT-linked institutions.

Rauf, a senior member of banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) since at least 1999, has long operated under various aliases to help the group circumvent international scrutiny.

As of mid-2009, LeT was actively using the name Falah-i Insaniat Foundation (FIF) to continue its operations and fundraising efforts following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. In 2009, Rauf participated in a fundraiser in Pakistan under the FIF name.

Operating directly under LeT chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Rauf has held multiple leadership roles within the terror network.

In 2008, he led a delegation on Saeed's orders to oversee LeT-linked activities in Bajaur, Pakistan.

He was earlier designated as LeT's Director of Public Service in 2003.

Rauf has also served as a public spokesperson for LeT, promoting the group's messaging through its website, media interactions, and public events.

He has played a key role in developing propaganda campaigns under the FIF name to further Pakistani terror outfit LeT's influence and legitimacy.
