PM Modi Criticises RJD, Congress Over Misgovernance In Bihar, Highlights NDA’s Achievements

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public rally in Bihar’s Motihari on Friday (18 July), accused the RJD and Congress of failing to uplift the poor, backwards, Dalits, and Adivasis during their rule, reported The New Indian Express.

He urged voters to save Bihar from the “bad intentions” of these parties, say they only did politics in the name of the underprivileged.

Asserting that Bihar was developing fast due to the "double-engine government", the Prime Minister said the state received a paltry Rs 2 lakh crore during the 10 years of UPA.

"It was as if they were punishing Nitish Kumar's government. After coming to power at the Centre, I ended that old politics of revenge against Bihar," he said.

Referring to a viral incident involving RJD chief Lalu Prasad and a portrait of Babasaheb Ambedkar, Modi said, “They cannot give even respect to the people outside their families.”

PM Modi said it was important for today’s generation to know the state of despair Bihar faced two decades ago.

"It is important for today's generation to know the state of despair Bihar was in two decades ago. Under the rule of the RJD and Congress, development was stalled, and money meant for the poor never reached them. Those in power only thought about how to loot the rights of the poor," he said.

The Prime Minister also dismissed the RJD’s criticism over the special intensive revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral rolls, saying the party stalled development and prevented benefits from reaching the poor.

Highlighting NDA’s achievements, Modi said, “We have provided pucca houses to people in Bihar more than the population of Norway, Singapore and New Zealand.”

He praised Nitish Kumar’s role in women empowerment and noted that over 20 lakh women had become ‘lakhpati Didis’.

PM Modi stressed the importance of developing eastern India and envisioned cities like Gaya, Patna, and Jalpaiguri achieving industrial growth similar to Gurugram, Pune, and Jaipur.

Earlier, Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore during his 53rd visit to Bihar since 2014.
