The Delhi and central governments have launched a major infrastructure drive to ease the capital’s chronic traffic congestion, reported The Times Of India.
Under the plan, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will execute six major road projects spanning 128 km, with a total cost of Rs 23,850 crore.
Key Projects to Ease Movement and Bypass Hotspots
The plan includes a 65km eastern extension of the Urban Extension Road-II, linking the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway to Noida via Ghaziabad and Faridabad, and a 17km connector from NH344M to Tronica City.
A 5km underground tunnel from Dwarka Expressway to Nelson Mandela Marg will ease traffic from Dhaula Kuan and Rao Tula Ram Marg.
A 20km elevated corridor from AIIMS to Faridabad Road will reduce congestion on NH48 and improve connectivity across central and south Delhi.
The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway extension and the Kalindi Kunj Interchange are also part of the plan.
Focus on Coordination and Timely Execution
Officials confirmed that the Delhi government will manage permissions, land acquisition, and traffic diversions.
“The collaboration between the Centre and state govt will enhance project efficiency, reduce delays, and ultimately benefit public infrastructure development in the city,” an official was quoted as saying by ToI.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has reportedly shared the complete blueprint with CM Rekha Gupta, asking all departments to work in sync for timely completion.
