Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (4 April) campaigned for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal's Cooch Behar and targeted the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government.
The PM thanked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as during the 2019 election campaign an obstacle was created in the public ground, but nothing of this sort was done today.
He said that Bengal will be the biggest beneficiary of Viksit Bharat (developed India) and asserted that last 10 years were only trailer as India is now set to become third biggest economic power.
"Only the BJP can stop atrocities on women. The whole country watched how TMC used its power to save Sandeshkhali culprits," Modi said referring to sexual assault allegations against TMC leaders.
"Sandeshkhali is the height of TMC's atrocities," the PM said adding that the BJP is committed to punishing Sandeshkhali culprits.
He said that women empowerment is his government's priority and brought up his guarantee of making 3 crore women lakhpati didis.
Modi said that 'Namo Drone Didi Yojana' is making women drone pilots and helping them increase their income from agriculture.
He alleged that TMC didn't care for Rajbongshis, Namshudras and Matuas but when BJP brought CAA, they were spreading rumours against it.
Modi claimed that politics of TMC, Left and Congress is based on false propaganda and the INDI Alliance is the biggest example of this.
"They (opposition) fight each other here but are together in Delhi," he said adding that people should not forget that these elections need to deliver a strong government at the centre.
The PM alleged that the TMC wants to save the ration scam and teachers' recruitment scam offenders. He highlighted the "stacks of notes found with TMC Ministers."
PM Modi was also well aware of the 2021 election violence as he assured the people that Election Commission is too aware this time and they should not be afraid to cast their votes.
He urged the people to come out and vote even if "TMC goons" stop them. He sought votes for BJP candidate from Cooch Behar Nisith Pramanik and Alipurduar candidate Manoj Tigga.
The voting at these seats of northern West Bengal will be held in phase 1 of Lok Sabha elections on 19 April. The counting will be done on 4 June.
