Tamil actor Vijay has taken the plunge into politics, kickstarting the process of launching his own political party in Tamil Nadu.
As reported by NDTV, Vijay has been elected as the party president, and the team is currently in the process of registering the party with the Election Commission of India.
Around 200 members of the party's general council attended a meeting to finalize key positions, appoint the General Secretary and Treasurer, and constitute a Central Executive Committee.
Reports also suggest that Vijay plans to make his political debut ahead of the 2026 state polls in Tamil Nadu.
The party is likely to incorporate the name Tamizhaga Munnetra Kazhagam (TMK), as per reports by Business Today.
Known as the next Rajinikanth of Tamil cinema, Vijay has nurtured political aspirations for over a decade.
Engaging his fan clubs in various welfare activities, he has been actively involved in charity, educational initiatives, and community service.
Notably, Vijay's fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, has previously participated in political programs and contested in local body elections in Tamil Nadu.
