Hosur is set to be developed into a major industrial and technology hub, with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) inviting bids from consultants to prepare a comprehensive development blueprint for the proposed Knowledge Corridor, according to a New Indian Express report.

The corridor, spread over about 30 sq km across the Outer Ring Road, Satellite Town Ring Road and adjoining bypass routes, is envisioned as a southern counterpart to Chennai’s Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR).

Like OMR, it is expected to bring together IT services, research centres and educational institutions to create a thriving ecosystem for knowledge-driven growth.

TIDCO, acting as the nodal agency, has outlined ambitious goals for the project.

The plan is to attract global capability centres, R&D units, IT/ITES companies, start-ups, universities and healthcare providers, while ensuring the region is backed by state-of-the-art infrastructure, digital connectivity and modern urban amenities.

The initiative is expected to not only consolidate Tamil Nadu’s leadership in industrial and technology-led development but also accelerate the socioeconomic transformation of Hosur and its neighbouring districts.

The selected consultant will be tasked with creating a 30 year vision document, which will define the strategic direction, identify focus sectors and chart out the branding and positioning of the corridor.

The master plan will also include detailed land-use proposals, mobility strategies and infrastructure planning.

Consultations with key stakeholders will shape the roadmap, with priority sectors likely to include biotechnology, financial technology and education.

The project will integrate physical and digital infrastructure into a unified framework to ensure seamless connectivity and sustainability.
