Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay on Saturday (14 September) accused both the BJP and DMK of betraying Tamil Nadu, declaring that his party would fight for “a Tamil Nadu without poverty, without family domination,” reported NDTV.

Beginning his maiden statewide tour from Tiruchirappalli, the actor-politician compared his outreach to ancient kings who prayed before war, saying he had come to meet the people before the “democratic battle of 2026.” He told supporters his voice represented “all Tamils.”

Vijay vowed not to spare either party: “We will not spare the BJP that torments people, nor the DMK that cheats them.”

Rejecting the BJP’s push for One Nation, One Election, he called it a tool for “electoral manipulation.”

He warned of delimitation moves that would weaken south India politically and accused the Centre of denying student funds, attempting to impose Hindi and Sanskrit, suppressing Keezhadi excavation findings, withholding disaster relief, ignoring fishermen’s woes, and mishandling the NEET controversy.

“These are just a few samples of the betrayals the BJP government at the Centre has done,” he said.

Turning to the DMK, Vijay alleged Chief Minister MK Stalin had delivered only a fraction of 505 poll promises.

He ridiculed schemes like the women’s allowance and free bus rides, listing unmet pledges on NEET, LPG subsidy, job creation, student loan waivers, pensions, and welfare for fishermen, weavers, and teachers. After each, he asked: “Did you do it?”

He also flagged Trichy’s local issues, including Cauvery disputes, water shortages, pollution, sand mining, and a kidney theft scandal.

Promising only what was “practically possible,” Vijay pledged TVK would prioritise education, healthcare, ration, roads, electricity, women’s safety, and law and order.

“Victory is certain. Nallathe nadakkum (Only good things will happen),” he declared.
