Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of the top four IT businesses and a major recruiter and trainer, plans to hire 70,000 fresh graduates this fiscal year through off-campus hiring.
According to The Economic Times, TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan stated that off-campus employment would reduce campus visits, improve reach and, most importantly, prevent the institute from serving as a quality benchmark.
“We are no longer dependent on the institute as a surrogate for quality. We can focus on the individuals”, he added.
However, instead of campus placements, the company has unveiled its in-house 'Smart Hiring Program,' through which TCS will hire freshers in various roles starting this year.
Job seekers who match the eligibility requirements need to register by 2 November. The company has announced that a selection test will be held starting 19 November, and the interview dates will be given after the test.
TCS Smart Hiring is open to BCA, B.Sc (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Biochemistry, Computer Science, IT), and B.Voc in CS/IT students graduating in the years 2020, 2021, and 2022.
The company said: “Students who perform exceptionally during our TCS Smart Hiring selection process will get an opportunity to join TCS Ignite – TCS’ unique ‘Science to Software’ programme. This programme trains you on trending technologies and will open the doorway to a wholistic and global IT career for you.”
The Smart Hiring application process includes a few steps, which are:
Logon to the TCS Next Step Portal, Register and apply for the TCS Smart Hiring process
New users need to click on ‘Register Now’, choose the category as ‘IT’ and proceed to fill your details
Submit the application form and click on ‘Apply For Drive’
Select your mode of the test (In-Centre or Remote)
For status confirmation, applicants need to check ‘Track Your Application’. The status would reflect as ‘Applied for Drive’
In this 'Smart Hiring Program', while registering, job seekers will be needed to provide original academic documents.
TCS iON will communicate with the applicants about the test. As per the company, applicants cannot change the test mode (In-Centre or Remote) once they have picked it during the 'Apply for Drive' process.
