BJP MP and national general secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar has leveled serious allegations against the newly-formed Congress-led Telangana government, accusing it of committing an "unforgivable crime in the guise of secularism."

As per reports by Indian Express, Kumar has called for the cancellation of government funding amounting to Rs 2.45 crore for a Tablighi Jamaat congregation and demands action against those who sanctioned the public funds for the event.

Kumar, in a social media post, decried the government order dated 13 December from the Minorities Welfare Department, which allocated over Rs 2.45 crore for the arrangements of a three-day Islamic congregation organised by Tablighi Jamaat in Parigi, Vikarabad district.

The BJP leader highlighted that Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan have banned the Tablighi Jamaat organisation for its promotion of terrorism.

BJP MLA Raja Singh echoed similar sentiments in a video message, questioning Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on the basis for sanctioning funds for the program and urging reconsideration of the government's decision.

Both leaders raised concerns about the organisation's association with terrorist activities and its role in the spread of COVID-19 in the country in 2020.

The controversy has escalated as BJP leaders demand accountability and transparency regarding the use of public funds for events organised by groups with controversial affiliations.
