Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attacked the Congress member of Parliament (MP) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for carrying a 'Palestine' bag to the Parliament on Monday (16 December).
Speaking at the UP legislative assembly on Tuesday, Adityanath said, "Yesterday a Congress MP was carrying a bag with the Palestine flag in Parliament and we are sending the youth of UP to Israel."
Israel and Palestine have been in conflict for decades but the recent war was triggered by Hamas's attack on Israel on 7 October 2023. However, Vadra had earlier criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"More than 5,600 youths have been sent to Israel. Every youth is being given free accommodation, free food, they are getting Rs 1.5 lakh extra and full security is guaranteed," the UP CM elaborated on the employment opportunity.
He also praised the state's skill development mission, to which more than 12,000 youths have been linked and of them, 6,000 have already received a job opportunity. In Israel, the UP youths are involved in construction work.
"The Israeli ambassador to India said that we want more and more youths from UP to come to Israel because the youth here are doing very good work. The whole world is acknowledging the skills of the youth of UP," the CM added.
Adityanath credited the state government's zero tolerance strategy towards crime and criminals, which has attracted an investment of Rs 40 lakh crore in UP giving employment opportunities to over 1.25 crore youth.
"The unemployment rate of the state from 2012-2017 was more than 19 per cent and today it has come down to 2.4 per cent. This shows that the state government is working in a positive direction," he added.
