Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) has formed an alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), a few days after drifting apart from Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP).

Pallavi Patel's Apna Dal (K) may soon announce a seat-sharing arrangement with AIMIM. Earlier, it was reported that the AIMIM wants to contest seven Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

Declaring its candidates on three seats of Phoolpur, Mirzapur and Kaushambi, the Apna Dal (K) had earlier said that it would contest the elections under the INDI Alliance.

However, when Akhilesh Yadav said that his alliance with Apna Dal (K) was in 2022 and not in 2024, the decision to break ties would have been made. The candidate list was also canceled.

The alliance can create trouble for the SP, which is heavily dependent on the Muslim votes. This will be AIMIM's Lok Sabha debut from the state.

It had contested local body elections earlier in the state in 2017 and won 32 seats. The seven seats that it plans to contest are Sambhal, Moradabad, Amroha, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Kanpur and Jaunpur.
