Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is set to bring an ordinance to control paper leaks that recently hit the state and affected lakhs of youth aspirants.
The ordinance titled 'Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations Ordinance 2024' will cover UP Public Service Commission, UP Service Selection Board, UP School Board and other relevant authorities and bodies.
Distribution of fake question papers and making fake recruitment websites are among the offences punishable under this act. The punishment ranges from a minimum of two years to lifetime imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 1 crore.
The draft suggests that if any examination is affected by offenders, the financial compensation for it will be extracted from paper solver gangs. There are provisions to blacklist defaulting companies and service providers.
The UP government will also be able to attach the properties of the offenders through this ordinance. All offences under this ordinance are non-bailable and under the jurisdiction of the sessions court.
As reported earlier, the Yogi Adityanath government will also be very vigilant about selection of test centres and the confidentiality of printing presses and the transport of printed question papers.
Only government secondary degree colleges, universities, polytechnics, engineering and medical colleges and other well-known, well-funded educational institutes with a clean track record will be chosen as test centres.
These centers will have to be equipped with CCTV systems. Four distinct agencies will be responsible for managing different aspects involved in the conduct of recruitment tests.
