Detained Congress leader and Bolath MLA, Sukhpal Singh Khaira alleged that his arrest is a part of the "vendetta politics of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann" on Thursday (28 September).

"On one hand, Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann pressurise our Delhi leadership to secure a place in INDI Alliance and here, in Punjab, they are doing dirty politics to marginalise Congress," Khaira told ANI.

"This is an old case of 2015. A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court of India ruled in my favour in 2017, quashing the summoning by the Fazilka court. I was also in jail in Patiala for 80 days over this FIR. High Court judge gave me a detailed order regular bail in ED case," the Congress MLA explained his position.

"Will you attack your opponents using the same offense again and again? Bhagwant Mann is thirsty for my blood and I will not be surprised if he gets me physically eliminated also. This is fourth case against me by Bhagwant Mann," Khaira further said.

"They are not even sparing ladies, have involved my sister in FIRs. The person who is filled with so much hate can also eliminate me physically. The police are theirs, gangsters are with them. I sense something very, very dangerous," the Congress MLA added.

"Policemen are paid mercenaries. Bhagwant Mann will be solely responsible. I will fight every bit of it. I am not afraid. The truth will prevail," Khaira concluded his allegations.
