The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered the Delhi Police Special Cell to hand over the investigation of the attack on the Indian High Commission in London last month to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
It has also directed the NIA to file a fresh case.
The move comes after the preliminary investigation had found links to Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).
During the incident, a group of protesters, holding pro-Khalistan flags and shouting pro-Khalistan slogans, tried to bring down the Indian flag at the High Commission. The flag was saved by a security officer present.
Some of them also held a poster of fugitive Amritpal Singh, a Khalistani sympathizer.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
