PM Modi’s Kerala Visit: BJP Questions LDF Government After Security Details Allegedly Leaked; Letter Threatening Suicide Attack Had Been Received EarlierPrime Minister Narendra Modi.

A letter received at the office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) threatening a suicide attack targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day visit to the state beginning on 24 April and the alleged leak of the details of the security arrangements has put the Kerala government under scrutiny.

The letter contained the contact details of the alleged sender NK Johny, a resident of Kochi. Johny has denied writing the letter and said that he suspects it to be the work of someone who has a grudge against him.

While the police were still investigating the threat letter, the emergence of a 49-page circular allegedly containing minute details of the security arrangements like the routes to be taken and the names of officers to be deployed have created a political storm in the state with the Kerala unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying that it is a major lapse on the part of the Kerala police.

It has also questioned Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who holds the Home portfolio.

During his visit, PM Modi would address a youth conference and also inaugurate projects like the Kochi Water Metro and the Vande Bharat connecting Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod.
