The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has filed chargesheets against C Vijayabaskar and KP Anbalagan, who were ministers in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government, for amassing disproportionate assets.
While Anbalagan was the Higher Education minister, Vijayabaskar was the Health minister during 2016-2021.
A case of accumulating disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 27.22 crore was registered against Vijayabaskar in October 2021.
The investigation found assets amounting to Rs 35.79 crore in the form of land, machinery, investment in companies like Rasi Enterprises, Rasi Blue Metal, vehicles, ornaments etc in the names of Vijayabaskar and his wife V Ramya.
Vijayabaskar is also an accused in the Gutkha scam.
The case against Anbalagan and his associates was initially filed for disproportionate assets worth Rs 11.32 crore. The amount was later revised to Rs 45.2 crore after the investigation.
The DVAC probe said that they had circulated the ill-gotten wealth through the Saraswathi Pachiappan Educational and Charitable Trust.
In another case of disproportionate assets against AIADMK headquarters secretary, SP Velumani, the DVAC recently revised the estimate from Rs 58.2 crore to Rs 730.5 crore.
