A Decisive Turn For Justice
Dear Reader,
Tamil Nadu has long been portrayed as a harmonious heaven of coexistence, but beneath this facade lies a troubling reality. The state has for long been grappling with radicalism and extremism of a particular hue, buried beneath stale slogans of social justice and communal harmony.
Hindu activists in Tamil Nadu have faced targeted violence, with many killed over the years. Incidents like the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts, the murder of Professor Paramasivam, and the killing of auditor Ramesh have highlighted the issue of radical Islamist violence in the state.
Despite arrests in these cases, progress has been slow, and perpetrators have often maintained connections outside of jail.
Both the Dravidianists and erstwhile BJP leadership stand in dock over handling of these issues. However, with a resurgent BJP in Tamil Nadu, will justice be finally delivered or is the status quo simply too entrenched to be changed?
The same question has been passionately raised and elucidated upon by our columnist Aravindan Neelakandan in his thought-provoking article: https://swarajyamag.com/tamil-nadu/remembering-victims-of-islamist-violence-a-decisive-turn-for-justice
Until next time.
