A special print issue
Dear reader,
For those of you who have been with Swarajya for some time, the Swarajya Heritage Program might be a little familiar. It is our annual tradition, which is now in its eighth year, dedicated to highlighting, preserving, and advocating for India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
If you’ve joined us recently—or missed our past editions—we'd like to talk to you.
This year, as part of our Heritage Program, we’ve chosen a theme that demands both attention and reflection: the future of temples, their management, and a more tranquil look at the long drawn debate over temple freedom.
Over the years, the discussions around this topic have seen many gradations. Sometimes too intense, more often controversial. Through all this and more so recently, what became clear to us is that the realities are far more layered and challenging than they appear.
For example:
How can concerns about inclusivity/accountability/sustainability be addressed?
2. Are there existing models of successful self-governance that we can learn from?
What systems can ensure temples are well-managed without government oversight?
You see, these aren’t questions with quick or easy answers. They require patience, thorough investigation, and meaningful dialogue. That’s exactly what we've attempted in our special November print issue.
We’re proud of the work that’s gone into this issue, and we believe you will like it. We're doing a limited print run and we do not want you to miss it.
