L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRHL) has become the first metro rail network in India to earn the prestigious IGBC Green Platinum Certification for all 57 metro stations across its three corridors: Red Line, Blue Line, and Green Line.

The achievement highlights the organisation’s dedication to sustainable urban transportation and green building practices.

The certification was conferred during the Green Building Congress 2024, held in Bengaluru by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The accolade was presented to KVB Reddy, Managing Director and CEO of L&TMRHL, and other key officials.

Expressing his gratitude, KVB Reddy stated, “We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition. It stands as a testament to our team's dedication to sustainability and their relentless efforts in creating a greener future for Hyderabad. This achievement reinforces our commitment to providing eco-friendly, efficient, and reliable public transportation for the city.”

Echoing the sentiment, Sudhir Chiplunkar emphasised, “The IGBC Platinum certification is a significant milestone for L&TMRHL. It validates our focus on energy efficiency, eco-friendly designs, and resource conservation. We will continue to strive for excellence and innovation in sustainable urban mobility.”

The IGBC Platinum certification, the highest level of recognition in sustainable construction and operations, underscores L&TMRHL’s efforts in:

Energy Efficiency: Implementing advanced technologies to optimize energy use.

Eco-Friendly Designs: Incorporating environmentally sustainable features across all metro stations.

Resource Conservation: Prioritizing water management, renewable energy, and waste reduction.

This achievement reflects the collaborative efforts of L&TMRHL’s teams and stakeholders in embracing green technologies and sustainable practices.

With this certification, L&TMRHL has set a new standard for sustainable metro rail systems in India.
