Hi! I'm Diksha Yadav, your host for the Swarajya podcast show, ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜€. Maharashtra has the second-largest Lok Sabha seat after Uttar Pradesh. The state's politics have turned interesting, unfortunately, because of the mess and confusion caused by:

  • the political instability over the past few years,

  • the two major parties (Shiv Sena and NCP) splitting into two factions each,

  • and the infighting between the new alliances and candidates switching sides even with only a few days left for the first phase of general elections over ticket distribution.

To help us understand the political khichdi and all that's been happening in the state, Anay Joglekar, along with Banuchandar Nagarajan, joined us in the latest episode.

"I believe that Maharashtra is in a transition phase. And it's like Uttar Pradesh before 2014, and I believe that after Lok Sabha elections, or the state's assembly election, there will be some kind of transformation of Maharashtra into a single-party state or a very dominant BJP-party state, which was not there until now, says Joglekar.

In this episode we also discuss:

  • How do people of Maharashtra vote

  • Impact of NCP, Shiv Sena split on the ground

  • Which party is strong, and in which region

  • The most challenging seats for the NDA/Maha Yuti in the state
