The Sengol was placed in the new Parliament's Lok Sabha hall today with due pomp and ceremony.
Following a Ganapati homam, the Prime Minister performed a sashtanga namaskara to the Sengol and the Saivite saints before the four Adheenams, led by the Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam handed over the Sengol to the PM.
Following this, a short parade, shobha yatra, was taken out from the venue of the puja to the New Parliament building. This was led by musicians singing and playing traditional Carnatic instruments. The Adheenams followed with the Prime Minister amidst them, holding the Sengol in between his folded hands.
Once they entered the new Lok Sabha hall, the Prime Minister placed the Sengol near the Speaker's seat, as the notes of the nadaswaram and the tempo of the thavils reached a crescendo.
