Karnataka went to polls in two phases of the recently concluded general elections in the country.

Karnataka, which voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by giving the party 25 seats, is likely to give a similar mandate to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

According to Axis My India - India Today exit poll numbers, the BJP will emerge as the single largest party in the state, winning 20-22 seats. In 2019, the BJP won 25 seats, while the JD(S) and Congress won one seat each. This was a historic high for the BJP, which has performed well in the southern state since the 1999 general elections.

This time around, the BJP is projected to consolidate a vote share of 48 percent, while the Congress is likely to get 41 percent of the vote. With the JD(S)'s vote share, the NDA may consolidate up to 55 percent of the vote share in the state.

The BJP allied with the JD(S) to win Vokkaliga votes. The JD(S) is projected to win all the seats they have contested — Hassan, Kolar, and Mandya. Prajwal Revanna, the incumbent MP who has been arrested by an SIT in connection with alleged sexual abuse, rape, and harassment charges, may also win the Hassan seat once again.

The Congress is projected to win anywhere between three to five seats, a marginal improvement compared to the 2019 figure of just one seat.
