Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Thursday (11 September), the Prime Minister’s Office announced today (10 September).
At around 11.30 am in Varanasi, he will host the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, who is on a State Visit to India from 9 to 16 September.
The meeting in the historic city of Varanasi is expected to underscore the civilisational connect, spiritual bonds and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
During the discussions, the leaders will review the full spectrum of cooperation, with a particular focus on development partnership and capacity building.
They will also explore opportunities in health, education, science and technology, energy, infrastructure, renewable energy, digital public infrastructure and the blue economy.
The meeting follows PM Modi’s State Visit to Mauritius in March 2025, when the two leaders elevated bilateral ties to an Enhanced Strategic Partnership.
Mauritius is considered a valued partner and close maritime neighbour in the Indian Ocean Region, playing a key role in India’s MAHASAGAR Vision and the Neighbourhood First policy.
The deepening cooperation between the two countries carries significance not only for the prosperity of the people of both countries, but also for the collective aspirations of the Global South, the PMO stated.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Uttarakhand's cpatial Dehradun.
At around 4.15 pm, he will undertake an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Uttarakhand and at 5 pm chair a high-level review meeting with officials.
