Wrestlers protesting in Delhi plan to hold a women's mahapanchayat in front of the new Parliament building on 28 May.

The protest is against the wrestling federation chief and coincides with the inauguration of the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day.

“We have decided to hold a peaceful women's Mahapanchayat in front of the new Parliament on May 28,” wrestler Vinesh Phogat told on Tuesday after concluding the march from Jantar Mantar to India Gate, reports PTI.

Women will take charge of the mahapanchayat, according to Vinesh Phogat who believes their voice should be heard everywhere to serve justice to daughters of the country.

The wrestlers' protest has gained support from farmers in Haryana. On Sunday, a khap panchayat in Meham passed a resolution calling for Singh to undergo a narco test and face legal action.

Ace wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshee Mallik have been protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar since April, demanding the arrest of the accused WFI chief for sexual harassment.

However, the MP has denied wrongdoing and blames wrestlers for framing him.

Following a notice by the Supreme Court, two police cases were registered on 29 April. . One was registered against Brij Bhushan Singh under POSCO in the matter of sexual harassment with a minor girl, while another FIR was registered for sexual harassment with other complainants.

The Delhi Police have formed a Special Investigation Team to investigate the matter and submitted a status report to the court.
