Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has mocked Prime Minister Modi's sashtang pranam before the Sengol during an event in the United States.
During the inauguration of the new Parliament building earlier this week, the country witnessed Prime Minister Modi performing sashtang pranam before the 'Sengol' as a mark of respect.
"BJP can't really discuss these issues [increasing Parliament seats], that's why they have to do this whole sceptre thing. Lying down and doing all that. Aren't you happy I'm not lying down," the Congress leader said with a smirk, according to a report in ETV Bharat.

However, his remarks received a muted response from the audience.
These remarks from Rahul Gandhi come just weeks before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to the United States.
Prime Minister Modi has accepted an invitation from President Joe Biden and is scheduled to arrive in June. The visit will include a state dinner hosted by the US President and First Lady.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
