Telangana politics are revolving around ‘constructing temples’ as the state goes to polls this year end.
While chief minister (CM) KCR has taken up the redevelopment of Kondagattu Hanuman temple, Telangana’s Congress party chief Revanth Reddy promised to build 100 Sri Ram temples in the state if voted to power.
Telangana CM KCR is known for his conspicuous Hindu practices like conducting giant yagnas and grand redevelopment of Yadadri Sri Narasimha Swamy temple. Thus his new initiative of redeveloping Kondagattu Hanuman temple is not surprising to many.
But what has surprised many is the promise from the state Congress unit on building 100 Sri Ram temples.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Revanth Reddy on Tuesday (14 February) announced that his party would build 100 temples for God Sri Ram with Rs 1,000 crore.
Revanth Reddy is touring the state as part of ‘Haath se haath jodo’ yatra. During his walkathon in the popular temple town of Bhadrachalam, he announced that the Congress party would build one Sri Ram temple in every assembly constituency with Rs 10 crore each.
He said that these 100 Sri Ram temples across the state would inspire the youth to walk the path of righteousness shown by God Sri Ram.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
