Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded the UP Special Task Force team at a meeting on law and order after the encounter killing of Atiq Ahmed's son Asad and his aide Ghulam, reported ANI.
The incident occurred hours before the meeting.
The efforts of the DGP, Special DG (law and order) and the entire team were praised by CM Adityanath. The Chief Minister's office reportedly said that a report on the encounter has been submitted to the CM.
Today, the Uttar Pradesh Police encountered and killed Asad, the son of Atiq Ahmed, and his associate Ghulam, both of whom were wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case and had a reward of Rs 5 lakh each on their heads, in Jhansi.
Deputy SP Navendu and Vimal led the UP STF team that seized foreign-made weapons from the accused, confirmed Special Additional Director General Prashant Kumar.
Former MP Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf were brought before a court in Prayagraj under high security, today. Atiq Ahmed was transported from Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat by road, while his brother was brought from a Bareilly jail.
