At 3,016 fresh Covid-19 cases, India put up a single-day figure that it never has in the last nearly half a year.
This is the highest figure since the 2 October tally of 3,375 fresh cases.
As per the Health Ministry's latest update, the number of active cases rose to 13,509 on Thursday (30 March).
The Covid-19 death toll rose to 530,862, with 14 new fatalities across the states of Maharashtra, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Kerala.
The Health Ministry said 110,522 Covid-19 tests were conducted and 15,784 vaccine doses administered in the last 24 hours.
As with India, so with its capital.
Delhi's Covid-19 cases climbed to 300 for the first time since 31 August last year, while the positivity rate rose to 13.89 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.
It led to the scheduling of an emergency meeting by the Delhi government on Thursday (30 March) to review the Covid-19 situation in the national capital.
Meanwhile, India's Covid-19 infection tally stands at 4.47 crore (44,712,692).
Till date, 92.14 crore total tests have been carried out and 220.65 crore doses of vaccine administered in the country under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
