In a significant move ahead of the Telangana Assembly Election 2023, the Congress party has unveiled a comprehensive poll manifesto, offering six guarantees aimed at realizing the vision of 'Bangaru Telangana'.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) chief Mallikarjun Kharge announced these promises, categorised as Mahalakshmi, Rythu Bharosa, Gruha Jyothi, Indiramma Indlu, Yuva Vikasam, and Cheyutha.

Taking a cue from their victory in Karnataka, the Congress has redesigned its promises from the neighbouring state. It hopes to challenge the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) party with these poll promises.

Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, the Congress pledges to empower the women of Telangana by providing them with a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500. Additionally, women will benefit from subsidised gas cylinders priced at Rs 500 and enjoy free travel in RTC buses, a move aimed at enhancing their economic independence and mobility.

The Rythu Bharosa guarantee focuses on the agricultural sector, promising farmers an annual financial support of Rs 15,000 per acre. Tenant farmers will also receive this benefit, along with an additional Rs 12,000 per year for agriculture labor. The commitment extends to a Rs 500 bonus per year for paddy crop, demonstrating the party's commitment to bolstering the agricultural community.

Addressing the concerns of farmers in Warangal, Telangana, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi emphasized the party's commitment to providing free electricity, assuring farmers that they would not bear any cost for this essential resource. Furthermore, under Congress rule, farmers can expect gas cylinders at the affordable rate of ₹Rs 00.

The Gruha Jyothi initiative aims to provide households with 200 units of free electricity, a measure designed to alleviate the burden of electricity expenses on families across Telangana.

The Indiramma Indlu guarantee is directed towards the Telangana movement fighters, promising them a 250 sq yards plot and a house site, along with Rs 5 lakh for those without their own homes. This commitment reflects the Congress's recognition of the contributions of those who played a vital role in the state's formation.

Youth Vikasam is a scheme tailored for the state's youth, offering a Vidya Bharosa card worth Rs 5 lakh for students. The Congress envisions establishing Telangana International Schools in every mandal to foster educational development and opportunities for the younger generation.

The Cheyutha promise caters to the welfare of senior citizens, assuring them a monthly pension of Rs 4,000. Additionally, senior citizens will benefit from Rs 10 lakh under the Rajiv Arogyasri insurance, demonstrating the Congress's commitment to providing comprehensive support for the elderly population.

Mallikarjun Kharge, while announcing these pledges, reiterated the Congress's determination to bring about social justice, economic empowerment, and unbridled progress to the people of Telangana.

As the state gears up for the elections on 30 November, these guarantees mark a strategic and detailed approach by the Congress to address the diverse needs of the populace.

The election results, anticipated on 3 December, will unveil the electorate's response to these promises and shape the political landscape of Telangana for the foreseeable future.
