Bard has new programming and software development abilities.
Google's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot now codes, debugs, and explains code.
"Coding has been one of the top requests we’ve received from our users," Google said in the blog post announcing the update.
The company announced that the chatbot will support over 20 programming languages, like Java, Python, and C++.
Bard can also explain code snippets, useful for those learning to program.
"In many cases, Bard can also help optimize your code by making it faster or more efficient," said the technology giant.
Google released Bard publicly last month in response to Microsoft-backed OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot, triggering a competition in AI advancement.
Bard is a Google experiment that enables collaboration with generative AI to identify content through data.
Currently, the AI chatbot is available to a small group of users to ask questions, replacing traditional Google search.
