The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has initiated a groundbreaking endeavour to transform air travel in the southern region.

Setting the stage for innovation, AAI has announced plans to construct cutting-edge terminal buildings at three major airports in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

These airports slated for a futuristic makeover include Kadapa Airport in Andhra Pradesh, as well as Hubballi and Belagavi Airports in Karnataka.

According to AAI, the development of state-of-the-art terminal buildings at Kadapa, Hubballi, and Belagavi airports is set to redefine the aviation landscape in the region. Upon completion, these projects are poised to significantly enhance the capacity and efficiency of the civil aviation sector, ensuring a seamless travel experience for commuters.

The new terminal at Kadapa Airport is expected to accommodate up to 25 lakh passengers annually, while both Hubballi and Belagavi Airports aim to cater to approximately 35 lakh passengers each year. This expansion and modernisation drive is integral to fostering economic growth, promoting tourism, and bolstering connectivity within the region and beyond.

Kadapa Airport serves as a crucial gateway for travellers to Andhra Pradesh, and the introduction of a new terminal building will bolster its capabilities to handle growing passenger traffic, thereby enhancing overall travel experiences.

Similarly, Hubballi Airport in Karnataka serves as the primary access point to the UNESCO heritage site, Hampi, attracting millions of visitors annually. Recently, it has outpaced all other airports in the state in terms of domestic aircraft movements and passenger growth during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24, reports Deccan Herald.

Additionally, Belagavi Airport caters to a rising number of air travellers, further underlining the importance of these airports in facilitating regional connectivity and tourism.

As the AAI's visionary projects take shape, travellers can anticipate a more seamless and interconnected southern region, poised to elevate the travel experience for all.
