After receiving approval from the Union Cabinet, the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) is now in the process of selecting an agency to undertake the detailed design tasks for the expansion of the Gurugram Metro network.

The Union Cabinet on 7 June 2023 approved the 28.5 km long metro connectivity between HUDA City Centre and Cyber City in Gurugram.

HMRTC had issued a second tender in March this year, as the previous tender had received only one bid.

As per the HMRTC document, the consultant will play a key role in designing the entire Metro ecosystem and finalising such a key agency can take a little time, reports Hindustan Times.

The selected consultant will be responsible of delivering a comprehensive design blueprint for the entire Metro system — including the conceptual layout of the 27 proposed elevated stations.

It will supervise the development of detailed structural designs for viaducts, foot overbridges, culverts.

Additionally, the consultant will prepare designs for both public and private transport solutions, public and private spaces, and integrating existing and proposed property developments.

According to Swarajya report, the tender floated in March received bids from three consulting companies, and the process to evaluate these bids is underway.

As per the document, the estimated cost for the project's design is approximately Rs 17.68 crore, expected to be completed within a timeframe of 48 weeks.

Corridor Alignment And Estimated Cost

The proposed corridor, known as ‘Gurugram Metro’ project — will run between Huda City Centre and Cyber City via Old Gurgaon.

The tender mentions a 26.65 km main line between Huda City Centre and CyberHub via Subash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, and Palam Vihar, and a 1.85 km spur from Basai village to Dwarka Expressway.

The project is proposed to have an interchange with Rapid Metro.
