With the general elections just weeks in West Bengal, authorities today (4 April) found the body of a 42-year-old man that was left hanging at the booth office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Siliguri (West Bengal), reports ANI.

The incident curiously took place only a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's massive rally in Siliguri.

After being alerted by the locals, the police located the body and took it away for postmortem. An investigation into the cause and nature of the deceased, who has been identified as Nitya Mandal, is underway. It is reported that he worked as a labourer.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain stated that the incident was an example of Bengal's “jungle raj” and requested the poll body Election Commission of India (ECI) to take cognisance of the matter.

"There is jungle raj in Bengal, the Election Commission should take cognizance of this incident. There is no rule of law in Bengal, BJP workers are continuously getting killed there. Is Trinamool Congress a political party or a murderous organisation?” he said.

“This is really unfortunate, the people of Bengal will answer this with their votes. CM Mamata Banerjee thinks she has become the absolute authority in Bengal after becoming CM, the people make the CM and dispose of the CM from the CM seat. The people of Bengal will teach a lesson to Mamata Banerjee in the Lok Sabha election and she will not become the CM post the assembly elections in Bengal,” added Hussain.

Two Deaths In Two Days

This is not the first time that BJP workers have been targeted in the state ruled by Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee.

Another BJP worker was shot dead allegedly by Trinamool-backed attackers on Wednesday (3 April) night.
