TMC MLA after joining BJP (@ANI/Twitter)
The exodus from the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool government in West Bengal continued for the second day in succession after another Trinamool MLA named Manirul Islam joined the BJP in New Delhi, ANI has reported.
Other Trinamool functionaries namely Gadadhar Hazra, Mohd Asif Iqbal and Nimai Das also joined the party at its headquarters in New Delhi.
Just yesterday, Mamata Banerjee had suffered a jolt when two Trinamool MLAs - Subhranshu Roy, Tusharkanti Bhattacharjee and over 50 councillors had joined the BJP. A CPM MLA Devendra Roy too joined the party.
The MLAs and councillors belonged to the Kanchrapara region which is considered a stronghold of state BJP leader Mukul Roy.
As reported, after joining the party, the MLAs and councillors chanted Jai Shri Ram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
Soon after the incident, Mukul Roy had claimed that just like the seven Lok Sabha phases, there would be seven phases of defection from the Trinamool.
