Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir (Representative Image)
Continuing its fight in the region, the Indian Army has successfully eliminated 22 terrorists in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) since the beginning of the month, reports Times of India.
The Army is simultaneously fighting the nation's war against the COVID-19 pandemic and have been helpful in containing its spread.
Army's defence PRO (Udhampur) Lt Col Abhinav Navneet shared yesterday that just over the past 24 hours, the force engaged itself into two operations, killing four terrorists in Anantnag and Pulwama Districts of the Kashmir Valley.
It should be noted that since the start of 2020, the total number of terrorists killed by the Indian Army has touched 54.
The surge and success of the Army's counter-terrorism operations in the Valley have strengthened the security grid in the sensitive region while keeping the number of terrorists and their leadership at their lowest ebb.
As per one report, Pakistan has doubled the number of terrorists waiting to infiltrate into Kashmir from its 14 operational launch pads.
In the past month there have been multiple infiltration attempts and ceasefire violations across Line of Control (LoC) from Pakistan.
This led to Army Chief General MM Naravane saying, "While we are busy not only helping our own citizens but the rest of the world too by sending medical teams and exporting medicines. On the other hand, Pakistan is only exporting terror. This doesn't auger well.”
