Bengaluru Passengers Demand Train Halt At Trumpet Flyover To Make Airport Commute Easier

Sandwiched between Doddajala and Devanahalli railway stations in Bengaluru, the trumpet flyover is in the midst of all conversations on the topic of suburban rail since it helps a lot of commuters reach the Kempegowda International Airport easily, thus avoiding the city’s unnerving traffic woes.
Namma Metro is seeing changes in plan every now and then, and the connectivity to the airport might take a bit longer than expected. Hence, the pit-stop at the station near the flyover might help passengers get a breather. Additionally, the footfall is bound to double the current numbers with the competition of Terminal II at KIA. As of now, many passengers get down at the city’s central railway station and travel by road to the airport.
Times of India quoted Sanjeev Dyamannavar who happens to be a suburban rail activist as saying, “A halt station near the trumpet flyover will benefit passengers as well as airport workers. It is possible to build a halt station with a single platform for about Rs 50 lakh, but unfortunately neither the state government nor the railways have evinced interest so far.”
Prof. MV Rajeev Gowda, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from Karnataka is ready to donate the required amount from his MPLAD fund. In case the plan works out, BIAL is willing to provide shuttle bus services from the station to the airport.
