Senior BJP leader D V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday (6 July) said that his party is ready to form the government in Karnataka if invited by Governor Vajubhai Vala, ANI has reported.

This statement comes in the light of 11 Congress-JD(S) MLAs submitting their resignation to the state assembly speaker. Gowda while speaking to the media claimed that the MLAs resigned after realising that continuing as legislators was not in the larger interest of the state.

After addressing the Governor as the supreme authority, Gowda claimed that based on constitutional mandate if the BJP is called to form the government, it is ready to do so.

As per media reports, four out of the 11 rebel MLAs have promised that they would take back their resignation if Siddaramaiah is made the Chief Minister. Senior Congress leader K C Venugopal is expected to meet him at 6 PM today.

Incumbent Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is currently in the US and will return back to Bengaluru tomorrow.
